Fetal Care Center: Compassionate Support and Expertise in Metro Detroit

Our vision for the Fetal Care Center at Children’s Hospital of Michigan is to be a first-in-class resource for the entire metro Detroit community and beyond. Here, pregnant women identified to have an unanticipated problem pregnancy can be comprehensively and compassionately assisted with antenatal diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, counseling and planning for the eventual care of their newborn. For their obstetric providers, we will offer coordination of services both at their own health care facility and within the Detroit Medical Center to optimize their patients’ care. We recognize that these times can be emotionally and physically challenging to all those involved and having a team of dedicated specialists at the FCC can help ease these burdens and make the journey as seamless as possible. From the FCC nurse navigator at the start of this process to the quaternary medical and surgical pediatric interventions after the delivery, communication with the family and health care providers will be a high priority. Along the way, we are planning educational programming and research opportunities as added features of the center. As we begin this journey, we look to both our internal and external constituents to help us design and modify the FCC to meet your and your patient’s needs and to make the FCC the cutting edge and high-quality center that our patients expect and deserve.
