We have a long history of training pediatric experts.  The roots of the CHM date back to 1886, and in 1930, our faculty founded the American Academy of Pediatrics.  In 1957 the hospital became affiliated with Wayne State University to shape the institutions national reputation as a major teaching hospital.  University Pediatricians, the pediatric physician group at CHM, became affiliated with Central Michigan University in 2019.  This academic partnership has broadened and shaped the academic resources that are available to our faculty and trainees.

The affiliation between University Pediatrics and Children’s Hospital of Michigan also plays a significant role in shaping the training programs at the hospital.  University Pediatrics pediatricians are involved in academic teaching, providing trainees with access to a wealth of knowledge and expertise in pediatric care. With University Pediatrics’ affiliation with Central Michigan University, there is an emphasis on integrating research into training programs. Trainees have the opportunity to participate in cutting-edge research projects, fostering a spirit of inquiry and innovation.
